Bbq beef flanks, sweet corn, and white rice

Image
This is one of my favorite dishes although it takes forever to cook. I allowed my meat to marinate in my seasoning for two days just so all the flavors will combine well and be finger licking good. The spices I used are seasoning salt, garlic powder, onion powder, green seasoning, bbq sauce and a dash of mustard. Yes, I seasoned these with bbq sauce because it gives it such a kick that it is hard to explain. After two days of marinating these ribs are ready to go in the oven. I place the oven at 350 degrees while waiting for the oven to warm I placed my ribs on a sheet of foil and sealed it tightly. Once the oven was hot I slid my ribs in and started on my sides. The corn is the easy part because its can corn I just basically heat it up add a half of cup of sugar and a giant spoon of butter because I love butter. For my rice, I add two cups of white rice to a boiling pot of two cups of water a spoon of butter and a dash of salt. I kept my rice going for about an hour then wai...

General Tso Chicken

Image
This was a bit complicated because of all the elements. I started by placing all my ingredients out to the side that consisted of one egg, a cup of flour, a sprinkle of salt, some onion powder, and garlic powder. I cracked the egg in a bowl and added a cup of water while mixing the spices in I beat it all together. After about two minutes I added a cup of water and cornstarch, once it was all combined I set it aside. I started my fire with a cup of vegetable oil, I would be using two chicken breast that I cut into cubes. I placed the chicken into the mixture and let it sit for about five minutes. Once the oil heated I began adding my chicken in as far away from each other as possible so that they wouldn't stick together. When the chicken was crispy to my liking I placed it on a plate with a napkin to drain all the oil off. I washed the pot and placed some more oil and put the chicken back in so it would be really crunchy even after the sauce is added to it. I only let the chicke...

Jasmine Rice, Honey Teriyaki Salmon, and Asparagus

Image
Today I've decided to try something new I've never made salmon but it is something I have always wanted to try. I guess I was scared because I didn't want to mess it up. I started but dabbing both sides of the fish dry with a paper towel. Once it was completely dry I proceeded to season it up while being gentle. I used garlic powder, fish and meat seasoning, onion powder, seasoning salt, and black pepper. I let the fish sit aside for about thirty minuted while I prepared the teriyaki sauce. This is my first time so I'm making this sauce how I think it should be. I got my wok added two cups of low sodium soy sauce, one cup of honey, a spoon of minced garlic and began stirring while it was on low heat. Once it began to simmer I gave it a taste and it was simply delicious. I let it cool for ten minutes because I just didn't want to add the hot mixture to the fish I turned my oven to 325. After ten minutes I poured the sauce to the fish and slide it into the oven. I p...

Bbq chicken wings and Jasmine rice

Image
So two days ago I seasoned my chicken wings and let them marinate. Let's go back to how well I seasoned these wings that I couldn't help but taste the seasoning after I was done working it in. I know I felt so fat for doing so but hey I need to make sure my meat has lots of flavors. Not only did I add the spices I put one cup of bbq sauce on the chicken and two tablespoons of brown sugar so it can soak into the chicken as well. I mean my mouth was watering for almost two days because I could not wait to bake these bad boys. When I got in from school last night I decided it was time to actually bake my chicken and stop dreaming about the taste. I headed into the kitchen and of course, my daughter was right on my heels ready to help me. I grabbed my potatoes of the draw, found my cutting knife, and got my cutting board. I washed my potatoes filled my bowl with water and began cutting. I cut my potatoes in I guess I will call them some type of chunky squares lol. I sat my potatoes...

Spaghetti With a Twist

Image
Today I start my journey through seven days of cooking different recipes. My first recipe will be spaghetti. Although it seems like one of the quick easy meals for me I do mine a bit differently. I've grown up watching my mom and sister making spaghetti and even though I like it I prefer to put a twist and do it my own way. So I start out by thawing out my ground beef wok (which is my favorite pot to make many of my dishes in) I place it on the stove and turn my heat on high. I throw my ground beef in the pot and use a fork to begin mashing the meat. As I'm mashing my meat I begin pouring my spices on the meat and mixing it all in I do this until the meat begins to brown. I dash over to my noodles scoop a noodle out give it a taste and turn off the fire. Just two days ago I bought something called a pot strainer which covers half the pot to strain the water without losing the contents inside the pot. I give it a shot and it worked so magically I pour all the water off and place...
